    Photography Workshop Series for Youth with Roots to Latin America

    Storytelling through 35mm Photography & Analog Printing

    Throughout 6 four-hour sessions at Gallery 44’s facilities, participants will learn how to use a manual 35MM camera, take photographs and create prints in a professional wet darkroom.

    This free series is for queer and trans youth (ages 16 - 29), with connections to what is colonially known as Latin America. Participants will be directed from concept through creation and artistic production, culminating in a formal exhibition of their artworks at Gallery 44.

    OUTREACH is Gallery 44’s award-winning arts program addressing the needs of youth from underserved communities throughout the GTA. OUTREACH inspires youth to develop positive methods of sharing their stories while connecting with their community. Through photography’s uniquely accessible platform, this program eliminates existing barriers to the arts, encouraging knowledge sharing, collaboration and dialogue.

     

    About the Instructor and Facilitator

    Camille Rojas (b. 1993 Toronto; lives and works in Toronto) is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in film, photography and performance. Her work is informed by experiences traversing through life and the hyperfixations that sometimes come from it and the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which the way in which.     Jess De Vitt (she/they) is a mexican-italian queer community arts mentor and visual artist based in T’karonto (Treaty 13). She has facilitated arts workshops for over 10 years.
